The Little Rock GRECC hosts a Geriatric Fellowship Program, a Special Fellowship in Advanced Geriatrics, Senior Student Outpatient Selective; Outreach Training Programs in other VA Medical Centers; Traineeships in nursing, pharmacy and occupational therapy; Dietetic Intern rotation; provides ongoing staff development and continuing education programs on a number of aging issues.

Course Description :
This course will address the role of the major macronutrients (protein, fat and CHO) in the management of common chronic conditions in elderly persons. The topics will include an in-depth evaluation of the role of dietary protein in health and in various chronic and acute conditions; the management of diabetes in older adults as well as mechanisms for insulin resistance; issues surrounding heart disease and obesity; and the role of fiber in the maintenance of health and disease.
